We have been very pleased with the care that our son has received under Dr Amy. Dr Amy struck a good balance between compassion and giving clear, pragmatic information. She was also able to adapt to my needs as a parent, and in particular, I like to have the facts. Dr Amy was very happy to spend the extra time with me to show me scans and xrays to further explain what was going on in the lead up to diagnosis and in organising a treatment plan. We also really appreciate that Dr Amy was keen to call in the expertise of other specialists such as Neurosurgeons, ENT, pathology to make sure that all of the bases were covered. Dr Amy was also very good at communicating effectively, and used the nursing staff well to let us know when she would be giving us further information. We also appreciate that even when she wasn't on the ward, she was very happy for us to email her.

I work as a consultant in a shared care unit. Dr. Mitchell is always professional & extremely helpful when contacted. She gives very helpful advice & delivers it in a way that is useful, non-judgmental & appropriate. She has managed to update the Piam Brown guidelines which has been invaluable resource for the shared care centers within the region.

I have known Amy both as a specialist registrar and in her current locum consultant post. Amy is an exceptional paediatrician. She listens to concerns of children, their families and other professionals and always acts on these concerns. She communicates very well, essential for a paediatric oncologist. Amy is hard working and 'gets things done'. These qualities, alongside her cheerful manner, mean that it is a pleasure to work with her.

Dr Amy has been in charge of our 3 year old sons care since he relapsed with Leukaemia. She provides expert care for him, she is extremely knowledgeable and always gives us all the information we need and although difficult at times to hear, she does it with compassion. I have every confidence in her knowledge and ability as a consultant to look after our son on a very difficult journey.

Amy has the special qualities that make a doctor great. She is motivated, enthusiastic and empathetic. She gives both patients and colleagues time and makes them feel that she is listening and keen to make things better. She goes above and beyond and tries to improve practice for both patients and colleagues. She has a special human quality that enables her to put patients and families at ease quickly, she quickly gains their trust.
